iCOG

Internet Citizens for Open Government (iCog)

Be an advocate. Ask your government to embrace technology to engage with you. This includes publishing all open information on the Internet. Your leaders may not know or understand technology, but you do. Encourage them to embrace it. Supporting good ideas may take a while to get traction, but once they realize that it is a good idea they will embrace it too.

So you can become an iCOG by demanding open government. Call, write, blog about your ideas. Go testify at local government meetings. Sometimes it is good to create examples of your ideas so people know what you are talking about.
